Ice TV was pushed fairly heavily and I bought a lifetime subscription at the time which was awesome. Unfortunately Ice TV went under, my lifetime subscription lost and a new company by the same name arises but now needs a payment of per month. The unit would not let us do a factory reset to wipe the disk. It did have excellent search & storage capabilities. All programs recorded, are stored as icons so it is a pain to look through them. I have to say that Fetch has the same "sorting" failings too.The stock standard inbuilt guide and recording function for series is not as good and now with the advent of streaming tv subscriptions I might choose another option. You could search ( and store in) categories such as " drama, movies, comedy etc. The remote is awful and cumbersome to go back & forth back & forth ..... Crazy when you think that you cant find and sort your library of material on a machine whose sole purpose is to do that.Humax also say that the new software mitigates the risk of future problems, and significantly reduces the time it takes to display the on-screen electronic programme guide (EPG) data, from many minutes to seconds. They’re claiming the latter to be a “new feature” although most frustrated users would probably think of it as a long overdue fix.If you want to transfer a lot of recorded shows, get a 1tb portable external hard drive ( i have a Maxtor M3 1tb as i can transfer and keep lots of shows) this cost . Whenever The remote & HDR are not in Sync, I press and hold for 3 secs the PVR Button located on the top left side of the remote. I would think that Humax should be able to fix the technical issue regardless that the warranty has expired. My only complaint relates to the inbuilt series recording function and guide. I think that the disk filled up - with each record & delete bits of data are left. I would like to look through the recorded movies category but the new device does not have anything like that. This is because the Humax functionality is so good, that I record far too many programs & without having the time to watch & delete the programs, the hard drive frequently becomes full. Once your hard drive is full, all future recordings will fail until you have 'cleared' enough space to commence recording again.Yes it should be, i have the HDR 7510T, ( sold only by Harvey Norman ).Sometimes you may need to force a guide update on the Humax. You may need to do this after changing the region or changing channels in your account, or to restore the guide after a period of no network or no Internet access.
